About Us
South of the River Music was created by two music teachers, Angela Fox and Dwight
Harrison.  It was their dream to change the face of music education! They wanted to bring
music to families who just didn't have time to add another activity to their plate by bringing
all the benefits of a music school right to the student's home!

They also wanted to help their fellow music teachers.  They wanted teachers to just do
what they love..teach!!  South of the River Music takes care of the administrative side of
teaching (marketing for students, scheduling, billing, money collection,  paying for and
organizing recitals, student and teacher support, etc.) so teachers have more time to
concentrate on providing quality instruction to their students!
Angela Fox: Master Teacher, Co-founder

Angela Fox holds a B.A. Degree in Music Theory and Composition with a Minor in
Dance from St. Cloud State University.  She has toured with the singing group
Carpenter's Tools, has sung for radio jingles, and recorded backup vocals for
various CDs.  She is currently working on her solo debut CD.

Fox has worked as Music Coordinator, Chancel Choir director, Youth Choir
director, and Kids Choir director at River Hills United Methodist Church in
Burnsville, MN for five years where she was a regular soloist (vocal and piano) and
a featured composer.  She is a published composer with Alliance publications,
specializing in pieces for choir, solo vocalists, and piano.

Since 2000, Fox has taught private piano and voice lessons in the Twin Cities Area.
She believes that most importantly, music should be fun!  Her bubbly personality
and practice of learning through encouragement, makes learning piano a relaxed and
self-esteem building experience.  She has passed along this philosophy and practice
to the teachers and staff here at South of the River Music.

Dwight Harrison: Master Teacher, Co-founder

Dwight Harrison holds a B.A. Degree in Psychology with an emphasis in Business
Marketing from the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities.  He was awarded a
scholarship for music and was very active in many musical groups.  In addition to
playing tenor saxophone in concert band, jazz band and a saxophone quartet, he
also accompanied vocal performance majors on the piano for their lessons, recitals
and various contests.

Harrison began his music education in piano at the age of 4.  He won the Minnesota
Music Teacher's Association Contest three times thus awarding him the honor of
appearing on the Northrup Auditorium stage at the University of Minnesota in
Minneapolis.  He has appeared in several All-State music groups throughout his
high school music career.  His musical talents have taken him to many performing
venues including Austria, Germany, Amsterdam and to many states within the U.S.
His influence of several diverse genres of music completes the well-rounded duo of
Harrison and Fox.
